About the course

Creating Spaces for Encounter

More than Events — Creating Encounter is a hospitality seminar for those in YWAM and the church who run or want to run events and ministries that carry God’s heart. Rooted in Biblical hospitality, joy, creativity, and excellence, the seminar explores how events can become spaces of welcome, transformation, and encounter. Hospitality is more than making people feel comfortable; it is an opportunity to reflect God’s character, communicate His truth, and create environments where people can encounter Him. Led alongside Debbie Rottier, who brings years of global YWAM experience in events and hospitality, this training is designed to equip and inspire participants to pursue practical, Spirit-led hospitality ministry with creativity, intentionality, and excellence.

What You Will Experience

The seminar begins with two weeks of teaching and training, followed by a third week of hands-on practical experience. Students will explore topics such as hosting, communication, leadership, event planning, food presentation, guest experience, logistics, and creating meaningful environments that reveal truth and beauty. Throughout the seminar, hospitality is explored as both an art and a ministry—gentle in appearance, yet powerful in impact. Students will discover how thoughtful details, creative expression, and intentional planning can communicate welcome, honour, and the heart of God. The training culminates in a practical opportunity to put it all into action as students work together to plan and host a live missions conference, bringing together everything they have learned about hospitality, leadership, creativity, and event ministry.
